This basically boils down to the woman. I choose to wear weave for 2 reasons. 1) I’ve always been very hard on my hair, so care is a nightmare and 2)wearing certain weaves actually makes my hair grow.

Different women will wear it just because they like to do so. And there are plenty of women who dont wear weaves (more power to them; I can’t do it myself).

And then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so maybe different women feel more confident when they dont necessarily have to worry about what their hair looks like.

    hair weave

To have long hair, from my understanding.. and its easier to keep your hair like that than to do it everyday like the other poster said

    hair weave

I don’t wear hair weaves. But I used to during high school, because I was “experimenting”, so to speak. Red hair, black hair, hi-lites, short hair, etc. That would be too much damage for natural hair, so it was easier, and less expensive to wear weaves.

Also, some women wear hair weaves to aid in hair growth.

Believe it or not hair weaves help hair growth. I had one for 3 years and I took it out and my hair has dramatically grown. White girls wear weave also.

I guess u r a dude asking this question and I think its sweet that you think that they are pretty without it. Some women wear it because they don’t like dealing with their own hair. It make some feel better about themselves…..really.

Some women want to grow their hair or grow color out that they have dyed their hair. During the summer people get them if they go out town……….it easier to manage. If they plan on going swimming a lot during the summer. Many more reasons.

Some wanna cover up bald thinning hair. I like weave because I don;t like to deal with my own hair and I like the look it give me!

I dont know what your ethnicity is, but african americans hair is harder to take care of then stringy, dry white people hair.
Plus they wear weaves because they want to look different, wont have to do as much to there hair, and to keep their hair neat if they dont know how to do there own hair. Personally, I think getting weave is a waste of time and money, but my sister wears weave, I dont and our hair comes to our shoulders and a little over. So I hope that helps, try asking them, I remeber I did that in class and we got in an argument.

WOW…you do realize that white women wear Hair Weave too. We wear weave for the same reason you get a hair cut. It’s simply to achieve a certain look. It has nothing to do with not thinking we aren’t beautiful. Some women kill me with the “I don’t wear a weave” but you get relaxers! What’s the difference? You’re hair isn’t naturally straight. And no I’m not against relaxers. my point is we all do something to either enhance or change our appearance.

WOMEN OF ALL RACES WEAR WEAVE, NOT ONLY BLACK WOMEN. IT’S NOTORIOUS IN HOLLYWOOD. I OFTEN WEAR WEAVE BECAUSE I SIMPLY DON’T HAVE TIME TO FIGHT WITH MY NATURAL HAIR.I AM A MARRIED RN, WITH A HUSBAND AND THREE SON. I AM ALSO OF MIXED RACE,SO WEARING WEAVE IS A CHOICE NOT BECAUSE I DISLIKE MY HAIR.

I am black, i don’t wear weaves or fake hair. Neither does anyone in my family.
I only know 1 black girl out of my friends who wears a weave. It allows her
to experiment with all types of styles and colors without damaging and frying
her own hair. It also helps your natural hair to grow. Black women have many
issues with their hair. Our hair is so thick and curly that our natural oils in our
scalp cant get from the root to the tip. That means our hair is very dry and breaks
off as fast as it grows. Thats why some black women have a problem with
growing their hair. Then, we like to put heat in our hair which makes the
problem so much worst! So styling can be a killer for black women. weaves
can really help. Its also easier to oil your hair when its in the braids. That
makes our hair grow! and we are not putting any heat or pressure on our hair.!
its like extensions. And you may be surprised! MANY white women and asian and all
ethnicities wear weaves. It might be harder to detect since they already have
silky hair which blends with the weave better.

I hope this helps you understand better. i think people can do what they
want! as long as you aint wearing the weave..you don’t have to worry about it.

This is a touchy subject for black women. Most don’t want to admit what’s plain to see for anyone with eyes. I mean look around you. Generally white women’s hair is longer, period. Sure there are exceptions but even then there’s usually some mixed race reason or something like that. Typical, “nappy” hair just doesn’t grow that long. I don’t know why its so hard for our sisters to admit something so basic. Even the argument about allowing it to “dread” to make it grow proves the point. White people style their hair, use chemicals, blow dry it, and wash it EVERY DAY, and it still grows past to waist length and below in a matter of months. Meanwhile I know sistas who have NEVER cut their hair in their entire lives and their hair has never been anywhere near that long. I mean look at what sistas even call “long” hair. Generally they’re talking about 8 or 10 inch hair. Come on! LOL!!!
