Mads asked:

I have shoulder length hair with a few short layers but i want to get hair extensions put in to make it longer. i don’t want it to look like a mullet though. how long should my hair be so the extensions look believable? and also how much do the good ones cost?

    hair weave

You can get a hair weave now if you want to. It won’t look like a mullet because your real hair will blend it nicely with the extensions if your hair is to your shoulders. Ask your hairdress to give you a layered look so it looks intentional. That way the weave will gradually get shorter and shorter and your real hair will look like it’s supposed to be that length.
Also don’t go with a full weave. Do a partial weave instead so the hair dresser can incorporate your real hair with the weave. I’m sure it will be lovely! The other thing you want to do is to get the right kind of hair. Get hair that is as close to your natural hair type as possible.

I have been wearing extensions most of my life, well the last 20 years.

I have very short hair, about 2 in. I say you hair is more than the enough length to wear believable hair extensions. It is basically how good of a job your beautician does.I get mine sewed in. They do this by braiding my hair and threading the weave in with thread and needle. It is painless, you don’t feel a thing. There is another method of applying bonding glue which is more for temporary uses.

I pay about $200 to get mine sewn in and they last, about 2 months, which is reasonable.

For my formal ball I paid $60 and used the bonding glue. This last maybe a week.
